Bouncing a ball with timers

With a partner, grab a bouncing ball, playground ball, or etc. Set a timer for a few minutes, no more than 5, and the longer the timer, the more difficult the game.

After starting the timer, pass the ball back and forth with your partner. The goal is to avoid dropping the ball or missing the catch during the game, until the timer runs out. If you do fail to catch the ball, a minute must be added to the timer, and the game continues.

This is an activity that works well for physically active children who are working on impulse control. It helps to incentivize them with a preferred activity when the timer ends, so that they make efforts to practice control of the ball during passing.

Of course, if your partner or client's preferred activity is bouncing the ball itself, this activity may not work out. Practice your judgement in choosing this game!
