Golden Bear Counseling 🧸

A retrospective from the first year

In December 2024, I officially took my first client through Grow Therapy. moving into 2025 I maintained a caseload of 10 clients a week, and have served about 40 clients with their care.

Not every week was a full one, and one thing that I discovered fast is that telehealth therapy is ripe with missed appointments. I was frequently netting 6 or less actual held sessions each week, and for the 40 or so I have seen, there were also about 30 who scheduled intakes, and never arrived. I have had to tighten my attendance policy some, and have had to reflect on the care that I intend to provide.

I have had many successes this past year. A number of clients who were genuinely thankful for my support, and I am grateful to see positive reviews continue to come in. I have also taken the time to consider my own practice and the needs of the clients that I am interacting with. One thing that stands out is a stronger need for trauma-focused treatment that dives deeper than my current training. Another is more support for clients experiencing somatic symptoms related to trauma, anxiety, or sensory overwhelm/overstimulation. I am hoping to address both of these needs in the coming year.

Finally, on the business end, there are costs to be addressed. Running a website through the current platform has been costly, and in order to mitigate the impact on the business I will likely be migrating the domain in the year. Alongside this I am looking to secure additional funding in order to pursue more opportunities for myself and my profession. Here's to a successful 2026!
